some senior citizens have decided to grow old differently, to keep contributing to society and to avoid going into a retirement home , they do so by creating alternative communities, their own self administered communal living, rather than move into a retirement home ... to grow old as they think fit : a new lease of life
For example in St Julien de Lampoon in Perigord, France a residents’ cooperative has been set up by 15 people, mostly women. The project, with the help of HABICOOP and encouraged by the Municipality letting them a low cost building site and funding a few of the 15 apartments
